Description of Position
The maintenance officer is responsible for keeping the fleet in working order. Despite being a critical position in the club, the duties of maintenance officer are not well defined. A good maintenance officer will do the following:

  • Proactively look for ways to improve the condition of club equipment and take steps to prevent or reduce the normal wear that occurs through use.
  • Create and maintain a maintenance agenda each semester. This document will contain all the maintenance projects to be accomplished during a maintenance day or Saturday Sails.
  • Create maintenance day schedules for each maintenance day using items from the maintenance agenda.
  • Maintain the Drydoc pages. This includes adding items from the maintenance agenda to the boats those items are associated with and keeping the inventory current.
  • Help members complete their maintenance hours.
  • Learn new skills and teach them to as many members as possible!
